Aviation Emergency
The Aviation Emergency function uses data from Flitesoft (a flight planning program from RMS) to provide a chart showing airports in the vicinity of your current location.
The Aviation Emergency function is designed for hands-off operation. Once activated (a single function key will do), all necessary data is displayed automatically and updated continuously.
The Aviation Emergency chart shows the following information:
- Directional marker showing your position (at the tip of the marker).
- Dashed line showing your course ahead.
- Arrow pointing to north (magnetic or true - as set in Settings) in the upper-right corner of the chart.
- All airports in the general vicinity with basic information.
- Runways, where data is available (for airports with an instrument approach)
- Detailed information on the airport most directly ahead.
- A shaded area derived from your current position (GPS), altitude (GPS), speed (GPS), descent rate (as entered in Vista Settings), and terrain data. This shaded area is probably outside your glide range.
- The window's top banner shows the scale (distance from side-to-side), your current altitude (feet), and altitude AGL (above ground level in feet).
