Vista Moving Map
Vista has made moving map software accurate, inexpensive, and truly easy to use. With Vista, maintain continuous and accurate position information on any map while zooming in to see greater detail or zooming out to see the big picture. Click points of interest to discover precise location and navigation information. In fact, Vista is so unique and powerful that the U.S. Air Force adapted it for use by the Air Mobility Command after a year-long test program to verify accuracy, functionality, and ease-of-use.
Vista Moving Map is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 (including 64-bit versions).
To make Vista ready to operate, simply attach a GPS to the computer (USB, serial, or Bluetooth). To use Vista, just start your computer, launch Vista, and sit back. Vista tracks your position, provides situational awareness, and includes a number of related functions - all of which operate automatically. Maps and charts graphically show your position. Vista's Flight Panel provides GPS data, reference to waypoints, a CDI, and Clearance Check - a high terrain warning system.
And Vista works with WxWorx to provide real-time satellite weather in the cockpit.
Check these Vista WxWorx benefits:
- No additional software to buy.
- Right out of the box, Flitesoft and Vista work with WxWorx.
- Unmatched user interface. Simply point and click for complete information.
- Great hardware and software packages. Shop and compare. You'll find we offer the best value.
Vista works with a single map or multiple maps of your choice. Vista supports both vector (computer-drawn) and raster (scanned) maps - plus any map you scan yourself.
Vector maps can be configured to your needs and can be rotated north-up or track-up. Tools include a measuring tool, a cross-section of the actual terrain ahead, support for function keys, a three-dimensional terrain view ahead, an aviation emergency function, a high terrain and obstructions warning, and much more.
The combinations of maps and features is endless, but it all works so naturally - simply click on a Toolbar button to launch the feature needed.
Vista with Flitesoft
Vista is a stand-alone moving map program. Flitesoft is a stand-alone flight planning program, also from RMS. When they are used together, the flight planning and moving map capabilities work hand-in-hand to provide the best possible package. Vector maps and certain other functions in Vista use Flitesoft's data when both programs are installed on the same computer.
Vista functions which use aviation data (eg, airport information, navaids, and airspace boundaries) must have access to Flitesoft to operate as described.

Map Compatibility
Vista is compatible with thousands of vector and raster (scanned) aviation, marine, military, and land maps plus, any other scanned map. Vector maps are drawn in real time by plotting lines, areas, and points read from data files. Raster maps are made by scanning a paper map or chart. The following detailed full-color maps are currently available on CD-ROM: IFR Vector Chart A computer-drawn chart of North America including VORs, intersections, airways, weather graphics, and any other map detail you wish to include. VFR Vector Chart A computer-drawn chart of North America including political boundaries, major roads, rail lines, power lines, water features, other physical characteristics, weather graphics, and all the aviation data you with to include. Sectional, Low enroute, High enroute, and Terminal Area Charts RMS raster charts are the sharpest and brightest available. RMS always maintains current charts that meet Part 91 requirements and work with Flitesoft, Vista, and Express. (48 states) Alaskan Sectionals are also available. Road Map A vector map including virtually every road in the nation along with rail lines and water features. (50 states) Vista Raster North JNC and GNC raster charts of the northern hemisphere. Ideal for aircraft cabin displays. Vista Raster South JNC and GNC raster charts of the southern hemisphere. Also ONC for most of South America. Ideal for aircraft cabin displays. Scanned maps Vista Moving Map also works with any scanned map. All popular desk and hand scanners produce compatible files (PNG, GIF, JPG, TIF, PCX, CMP, BMP, and WMF). |

Approaches and Runway Diagrams
Approaches and Runway Diagrams are shown and "flown" in Vista. |
Clearance Check
Vista's Clearance Check window provides aircraft pilots real-time warnings of possible problems with terrain and obstructions. You set the safe clearance limits - Vista warns if terrain or obstructions ahead violate those limits. This function compares to systems used by major airliners. |
Profile View
The Profile provides a cross-section of terrain ahead. |
Virtual Flight
Virtual Flight provides a three-dimensional view of the terrain, airspace, airports, VORs, obstructions, the planned route, and topography. With Virtual Flight, you can actually "fly the brackets in the sky." |
HSI
The HSI provides clear navigation information directly overlaid on vector and raster charts. |
Course Deviation Indicator (CDI)
The CDI provides current and accurate position data while following a route. |
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs mark the track made good and can be added at any time. |
Aviation Reference
Vista's Aviation Reference function provides real-time reference to airports, VORs, navaids, and points in your route. |
GPS Data
Vista reports the latitude, longitude, track, speed, altitude, and AGL (calculated). |
Attitude Indicator
Vista'a Attitude Indicator is driven by GPS so no additional boxes or wired are needed. And even though it is slower to respond that a gyro-driven indicator, it could prove invaluable some day if that gyro fails. |
Point Tool
The Point Tool provides data between your current position and the point you click. Latitude, longitude, and elevation of point clicked Bearing, distance and fuel to point ETE and ETA Cross-section of terrain between your location and the point |
Gauge Tool
Drag a line on any chart - the Gauge Tool provides: Coordinates of end points Course and distance between end points Elevation of end point Cross-section of the terrain between the end points |

Rubber-Band Routing
Vista makes changing the route quick and easy. Just stretch the line to include another waypoint. |
Direct To
The Direct To function is used to fly directly to a single point or a series of points (as in the figure). |

Status Bar
Vista's Status Bar continually monitors XM weather status, terrain, obstructions, and the GPS signal to provide clear on-screen warnings if a possible problem exists. |
Buttons on Vector Charts
Buttons located on the right side of all vector charts make it easy to customize the chart with a single click. |
Buttons on Raster (scanned) Charts
Buttons located on the right side of all raster charts make it easy to customize the chart with a single click. |
Emergency
Vista's Emergency function activates with one command - then it's all hands off. It shows your position, airports (graphic runways, identifier, runway length, paved/not, lighted/not), and the reachable region. (Actual terrain data (US 48 states) is used to shade the unreachable region.) The Emergency function shows complete data on the airport most directly ahead automatically. |
Record/Play
The Record function is used to record and save vehicle movement in a disk file. The Play function is used to display the data at a later time by superimposing it over on-screen maps. |
Overlays
Overlays in Vista are lines, shapes, and text which are added over on-screen maps. An overlay, for example, can be used to show the layout of a piece of property or the location of a buried utility line. Vista allows multiple overlay files, several of which can be displayed at the same time. |
The computer's function keys can be used in Vista to accomplish several tasks such as changing the scale of the map, moving the map view, or even activating the Emergency function. The use for each function key can be customized.
