Bargain Fuel Locator
The Bargain Fuel Locator function is used to select FBOs at airports for enroute refueling. To support this function, Flitesoft includes data on FBOs in the USA, including fuel prices, which is maintained and updated with Flitesoft's regular update service. Because the fuel price data is included with Flitesoft, there is no on-line or user fee associated with this function.
Airports/FBOs are shown on the Chart with their identifier, the price/gallon for the type of fuel used by the active aircraft, and the difference in cost (dollars) between refueling at this airport compared to the average airport in the region. The calculated cost of refueling is based on the following formula:
(Extra time to deviate to airport) X ($/hr cost of ircraft) + (Quantity of fuel) X (cost of fuel/unit - average cost of fuel/unit)
In other words, there is a cost to deviate off of the great circle route to refuel - that cost is the extra time multiplied by the cost/hour to operate the aircraft. Part of this cost might be made up by selecting a refueling location which offers fuel at a lower cost than average. The combination of these factors determines the best refueling location.
